SWR supplies a comprehensive range of galvanised key clamp fittings and tube suitable for applications from lightweight frames and furniture to heavy-duty handrailing, pedestrian safety barriers and DDA-compliant ramps. Manufactured from high-quality galvanised steel, assembled on site without welding using a standard hex key.
Key clamp systems are supplied as individual fittings and tube lengths — buy what you need from stock, or let SWR design and quote a complete bespoke system. All fittings are manufactured from high-quality galvanised steel and assembled on site without welding.
Galvanised steel tube in six diameters: 27mm, 34mm, 42mm, 48mm, 60mm and DDA. Available in standard lengths — cut to size if required.
Malleable galvanised iron fittings for every configuration: 90° elbows, tees, cross pieces, end rail fittings, handrail brackets and more. Tightened onto tube with a standard hex key.
Pre-assembled posts available for common configurations — ready to fix straight from the box. Available through the online store.
Matching galvanised end caps for a clean, finished post top. Supplied with pre-assembled posts, available individually for DIY builds.
All key clamp fittings are tightened with a standard hex key — no welding, no specialist tools required. Site assembly is straightforward.
Full installation guide supplied with every order. Configurator-generated component list included for straightforward site assembly.

Each of the four systems below is a complete, modular product set designed for a specific application, built to your spec, fully matched and priced as one. Pick the one that fits your project.
ALUMINIUM CHANNEL · WIND RESISTANT · INDOOR/OUTDOOR
A balustrade system built specifically to reduce wind exposure on elevated or coastal outdoor spaces, without blocking the view or the light. Glass or solid panel infill within a stainless post frame, sized and positioned to act as a wind break where it’s needed most.
MALLEABLE IRON · NO WELDING · FAST ASSEMBLY
Malleable iron fittings clamped onto standard stainless or galvanised tube, assembled on site with a hex key, no welding, no specialist trades. A modular railing system that goes up quickly and can be reconfigured just as easily. Available in hot-dip galvanised, powder coat or bare finish. Compliant with UK building regulations when correctly specified.
SOLID PANEL · STAINLESS OR MILD STEEL · BESPOKE SIZING
Solid or semi-solid stainless screen panels within a post frame, designed to provide a physical barrier where open infill won’t do the job. Used on commercial rooftops to screen plant and equipment, in industrial settings to guard machinery, and in public buildings where a solid barrier is a safety or planning requirement. Bespoke panel sizing available to suit non-standard openings.
PERFORATED STEEL · SEMI-OPAQUE · POWDER COAT FINISH
Stainless or mild steel panels with a punched perforation pattern, set within SWR’s standard modular post frame. Semi-opaque, offering more privacy and wind resistance than wire, more light and air than a solid panel. Perforation patterns available in a range of open areas depending on the level of screening required. Powder coat finish available across the full RAL range.
SWR key clamp fittings are manufactured from high-quality galvanised steel, durable, corrosion resistant and suited to indoor and outdoor applications including industrial environments. No welding required, all fittings are assembled with a standard hex key, making key clamp one of the most practical and adaptable railing systems available. Systems can be assembled, disassembled and reconfigured on site without specialist trades. Full specifications and technical data available to download below.

Addenbrookes Hospital required a large-scale balustrade solution that could improve safety while fitting neatly into a busy healthcare setting.
Key clamp is a modular railing system using malleable galvanised iron fittings that clamp onto standard steel tube using a hex key — no welding, no specialist fabrication equipment required. Fittings are available for every common configuration: 90° bends, tees, crosses, handrail brackets, end caps and more. The system can be assembled on site by any competent builder or tradesperson, and can be disassembled and reconfigured as easily as it goes together.
Yes, when correctly specified. Key clamp systems can meet the height, load and graspability requirements of BS 6180 and Approved Document K for handrails and barriers. The correct tube size and post spacing must be selected for the application — 48mm tube is the standard specification for pedestrian safety and commercial handrailing. Building Control sign-off requirements vary by project — SWR can provide specification documentation to support your application.
The DDA tube and fitting range is specifically designed for handrail applications on disability ramps and accessible routes — profiled and dimensioned to meet the graspability and continuity requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act and current BS 8300 guidance. If your project includes a DDA-compliant ramp or accessible entrance, specify the DDA range rather than standard 42mm or 48mm tube.
Both options are available. Individual fittings, tube lengths and pre-assembled posts are available to order directly through SWR’s online store — useful for small jobs, repairs and self-build projects. For larger or more complex layouts, SWR will design a bespoke system to your specification and provide a complete component quote. Send us your drawings or dimensions and we’ll turn around a detailed quote within [X] working days.
All key clamp fittings and tube are galvanised as standard — a hot-dip galvanised coating that provides excellent corrosion resistance for outdoor and industrial use. Powder coat finish is available on some components for projects where a colour finish is required. Confirm your finish requirement at quote stage.
Tell us your application, tube size requirement and run length — or send us your drawings — and we’ll design and price a complete key clamp system to your specification. Or buy components directly from our online store.
