A glass channel balustrade uses a continuous aluminium base channel fixed to the floor surface to hold toughened glass panels upright. The glass slots into the channel rather than being held by individual spigots or post clamps. The result is a clean, frameless glass balustrade with a continuous base line — widely used in commercial settings and suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
The Aluminium Channel 6000 is available in three independently certified load ratings: 0.74kN for standard residential applications, 1.5kN for heavier residential and light commercial use, and 3kN for commercial applications with higher barrier load requirements. Confirm your application at quote stage and we’ll specify the correct load rating.
Yes — the Aluminium Channel 6000 is tested and suitable for exterior applications as well as interior. Finish selection should take account of the environment: colour coating and anodized finishes offer better long-term performance in exposed outdoor settings than plain mill finish. Confirm your environment at quote stage and we’ll advise on the right finish specification.
Round, square and oval handrail profiles are all available to combine with the Aluminium Channel 6000. Adding a handrail completes the system for staircase and ramp applications where a graspable rail is required under Approved Document K, and also adds a further design element to the finished installation.
