SWR’s glass spigot balustrade systems use non-invasive round-base clamps and frameless toughened glass to create a clean, understated balustrade that won’t compromise your outdoor space. A perfect blend of looks, function and versatility, suitable for swimming pool surrounds, raised decking, balconies, terraces and commercial properties. Design and installation service available.”
A typical glass spigot system simply includes spigots and glass. Choose your spigot type to suit your glass thickness, load requirement and aesthetic. Options to complete the system include toughened glass panels and slotted handrails.
Various spigot options including Vertigo, SWR, and Titan. Available in AISI316 or 2205 marine-grade stainless. Suits a wide range of glass thickness from 8mm to 21.52mm. Satin finish as standard, copper and mirror polish available.
Toughened glass panels cut to size. No drilling required — glass is held by the spigot clamp. 10mm, 12mm and thicker panels available depending on spigot specification.
Optional slotted stainless top rail to complete the system. Available in 42.4mm and 48.3mm diameter, AISI304 or AISI316, in lengths from 1M to 6M.
Surface-fixed base options to suit your substrate — concrete, timber or steel deck.

Each system below achieves a clean, contemporary glass balustrade through a different fixing method, material or function. The right choice depends on your substrate, your aesthetic, your application and how much you want to spend.
FRAMELESS · AISI304/AISI316 · FLOOR-FIXED
Stainless steel spigots fixed to the floor hold toughened glass panels at the base — no frame, no visible channel, no interrupted sightline. The cleanest floor line of any glass fixing method. Round-base clamps in satin-finish stainless, available in AISI304 or marine-grade AISI316. Ideal for outdoor use where the frameless look is the priority.
ROUND POSTS · AISI304/AISI316 · CORNER COMPATIBLE
Toughened glass panels held within a stainless modular post and handrail with glass adapter fixings between. The structural confidence of a post system with the open aesthetic of glass infill. Available in AISI304 or AISI316 stainless to suit indoor or exposed outdoor applications. Flexible by design, accommodating corners, steps and changes in level.
AISI304/AISI316 · RETROFIT FRIENDLY
Glass panels fixed to stainless steel stand-off adapters. The right choice where spigots can’t be used. Often popular for mezzanine decks, retrofits and interior stairs.
CONTINUOUS CHANNEL · FRAMELESS GLASS · COMMERCIAL GRADE
A continuous aluminium base channel system for frameless glass balustrades. Glass panels sit within the channel profile fixed to the floor. Widely specified in commercial settings. Supplied by OnLevel.
ALUMINIUM POSTS · COST-EFFECTIVE · RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL
Standard aluminium glass post systems for residential and commercial applications. A cost-effective post-and-glass option where neither stainless nor PiKasso is the right fit.
HEIGHT-ADJUSTABLE · NO VISIBLE TOP RAIL · WIND PROTECTION
The original height-adjustable glass balustrade. A simple press raises the upper glass panel to create instant wind protection — lower it just as easily when the weather improves. Designed and manufactured in Sweden by ErgoSafe, ClickitUp combines glass, aluminium and structural glazing bonding with no visible posts or fixings. Design-protected since 2014. Available for ground-level patios, balconies and as a retrofit inside existing railings.

Addenbrookes Hospital required a large-scale balustrade solution that could improve safety while fitting neatly into a busy healthcare setting.
A glass spigot is a stainless steel base clamp fixed to the floor or deck surface that holds a toughened glass panel upright without any frame, post or visible fixing at the glass edge. The spigot clamps around the base of the glass panel using a rubber-lined clamp mechanism — no holes drilled in the glass, no visible screws on the glass face. The result is a frameless, open balustrade with maximum transparency. A slotted stainless handrail completes the system at the top.
It depends on your spigot choice. The Vertigo and SWR spigots suit 8–12mm glass, suitable for lower-height decorative applications. The Titan spigot suits 12–21.52mm glass for structural, load-rated applications. The MOD 6400 suits 12–17.52mm glass and is load rated for balustrade use. Confirm your application — height of drop, expected load, indoor or outdoor — at quote stage and we’ll specify the correct glass thickness and spigot combination.
Yes. All SWR glass spigots are made from AISI316 or Marine Grade 2205 stainless steel — the grades specifically designed for salt air, chlorine and high-humidity environments. The spigot system is a great choice for poolside and coastal properties.
Under UK building regulations, a graspable handrail is required in many applications — the glass panel alone may satisfy the barrier requirement but not the handrail requirement. SWR’s slotted stainless top rail completes the system and is available in 42.4mm and 48.3mm diameter, AISI304 or AISI316, in lengths from 1M to 6M.
Yes. SWR offers a full design and installation service for glass spigot balustrade projects throughout the UK, in addition to supply-only for contractors and self-builders. Speak to the team at quote stage to confirm availability for your location and project type.
