A bold, architectural post profile for projects where a sharper line is the design intent. Our square modular balustrade system uses square-section stainless posts with toughened glass, wire or perforated panel infill — fully configurable, BS 6180 tested, and suited to commercial staircases, contemporary residential projects and design-led interiors.
A typical square modular system includes the following components, priced and documented for installation. Corner posts, step brackets and extended lengths available by arrangement.
[40mm/50mm] square-section stainless posts in satin finish. Floor-fixed or wall-fixed variants. 304 or 316 grade to suit the environment.
Matching base plates for floor fixing or wall brackets for face fixing. Pre-drilled and supplied with fixings.
Stainless glass clamps or adapters to hold toughened glass panels at the correct stand-off. Available in matching satin finish.
8mm–17.76mm toughened glass panels, drop-complete and cut to size. Unobstructed views throughout.
Round or slotted stainless top handrail available with or without the system. Supplied to length.
Tensioning tool, full installation drawings (PDF + DWG), and a printed quick-reference card.

SWR square modular posts are available in [40mm and 50mm] square section. Both are available in floor-fixed and wall-fixed variants. Post size selection depends on run length, post spacing and infill weight — confirm your project details at quote stage and we’ll specify the correct size.
Square modular posts are compatible with toughened glass, stainless wire infill and perforated stainless panels. Infill type is specified at quote stage. Glass gives the most open, premium look. Wire is the lightest and most view-preserving option. Perforated panel gives a decorative, semi-opaque finish.
Yes. The square post profile is particularly well suited to commercial staircases, office fit-outs, mezzanines and public buildings where a bolder, more architectural aesthetic is appropriate. Full specification documentation is supplied with every order to support Building Control and planning sign-off.

The core construction is the same — standard stainless posts assembled on site with your choice of infill, no on-site welding required. The difference is aesthetic: round posts give a softer, more residential feel; square posts give a bolder, more architectural profile. Both are available in the same grades, finishes and infill options.
